#SQLSatAtl Poster

SQL Saturday Atlanta 2016 was a record year – 590 attendees were there to take in all the sessions!
The theme for this year’s #SQLSatATL was ‘super heros’ and the speaker shirts were definitely in line with the theme.

I presented first in the day and we had a great group of people, mostly database administrators, who wanted to know how to get a handle on being a SharePoint Administrator as well. They asked great questions and it was a lot of fun.

The rest of the day was filled with a lot of learning and fun. Make sure to check out this great event next year!

[UPDATE]
SQL Saturday returned this year to Pensacola after a four-year absence. The main director, Karla Landrum, did an outstanding job organizing the event!

We kicked off the weekend with a great dinner and it was good to catch-up with friends from around the country.

There were some really high-quality sessions during the event and I really enjoyed Brandon Leach’s session Data Pages, Allocation Units, IAM chains… Oh My!

My session was a lot of fun – even the SharePoint 2016 installation demo finished before my time ended. As an added bonus, I enticed a few people to register for Twitter! Remember folks, use the hashtag #SPHelp to ask your SharePoint questions on Twitter!

Presenting at SQL Saturday Pensacola #SQLSatPensacolaThank you Karla and everyone who attended my session for a fantastic event!

Keys to Successful SharePoint Administration for the DBA – SQL Saturday Nashville 2016

It is an honor and I am excited to be speaking at the January 16th, 2016 installment of SQL Saturday Nashville (#SQLSatNash). I will be doing a ‘spotlight’ 90-minute session covering the keys to being a successful SharePoint administrator, with a focus on database administrators who might have inherited a SharePoint farm or have been tasked with implementing it. We will cover common SharePoint misconceptions & use live demos to show frequently performed tasks. Lastly we will cover the training options and other resources available to make your job easier and more automated.

With the extended time I plan on diving a little deeper than I could with a regular 60-minute session – highlighting automation tools/methods, how to document your farm and troubleshooting common issues. My session is right before lunch, so it will be easy enough to carry the conversation over into lunch if attendees want to continue.

[UPDATE]
The event was a great success and I really enjoyed spending time with the attendees. We were able to have a great conversation about SharePoint as it relates to a DBA, even with a small projector problem 🙂
